It has a mahogany veneer (might be solid wood but we think it is a veneer) and heavy brass embellishments- decorative cherub plate, handles, and feet. It is very old and is not new. Signs of age are. Missing divided knife separator. Scratches, scrapes in the wood. Small split in the wood on the lid. Minor buckles in the finish. Interior floor shows scratches where utensils would have scratched. Some of the screws holding the brass feet on have been replaced at some point. All of these issues are documented in the photos in this listing. This knife box’s approximate measurements are. 15 tall in the back. 11 tall in the front. 9 1/2 wide at the wood body. 11 1/2 wide at the feet. 11 deep from the back feet to the very front of the curved front.
